Last night Macy was cradling with Cheryl crying to her hearts content, no matter what we did it would not pacify her - bottle, breast, rocking, changing, etc..  So I took her and held her sitting upright and bounced her lightly on my chest for a few minutes (usually she likes this), and all of a sudden she looked straight into my eyes, stopped crying, smiled, and just stared at me for the longest time, almost to say, "I know who you are, your my daddy".  It was such a simple thing, but also the most amazing thing to this jaded sole.  I would like to think that thirty years from then, that I will still recall with absolute clarity the peace and joy I felt in that moment.
